Ad Display Options and Categories
Do you know that you can setup our software to have virtually unlimited categories and ads? Our software provides a powerful and unique 3-way main category system. You create 3 different sets of unlimited main categories which are connected between each other such as Resumes, Job Offers as action main-categories, computers, tv/media, real estate, etc. as job category types and west coast, south, west, southwest as location categories. Further you can create subcategories such as TV/Media -> USA -> New York -> Manhattan..., the specifications are endless. The categories provide a preview of the ad and thumbnail photo. Your users can sort preview results according to any field in ascending or descending order. Authors of ads who are currently online are marked with a green flag. Members can browse full ads, save ads to hotlist, send ads to friends, send mails to ad authors, view authors profile, report ads to you and view full sized photos (only if their account permissions YOU define allow them to).
- Automatically generate thumbnails for posted images (requires free perl modules GD.pm OR image::magick pre-installed on your system and our thumbnail creation module). No more manual resizing. All photos your members upload will be resized to a thumbnail size YOU define.
- Ad posting process is fully customizable by admin, create your own individual jobs classified service. Display all forms on one large page or split up into several steps between pages, even 10 or more, making it easier to edit.
- Example: The first step determines the category that fits best.
Example: The second step gathers detailed information about the member resume style or the job position.
Example: The third step provides further description text fields, you can limit the amount of words optionally.
Example: The fourth step gives the member the opportunity to upload pictures or other media files like curriculum vitae in doc format. Pictures can be previewed first before going to the final step.
Example: The final step is to review and confirm what has been submitted, at any time your members can go back to edit any part they want.
Note: Until the ad has not been submitted, the ad is still incomplete.
- Ability of showing submitted ad fields during ad post process on each step.
- Ability of "submit & preview" button during ad post on each step, so if member just wants to make a tiny change he/she can do so quickly and conviently.
- Depending on how you set the ad posting type, it can either be posted right away or waiting for your review and approval.
- You can set the days the ad remains active. Updating the ad does not extend the ad expiration date.
- Ability to automatically keep track of the total number of ads posted by user.
- After member has posted the maximum number of ads allowed, definable by admin, they are not allowed to post any more ads until they delete some of their old ads OR upgrade to a higher account.
- Optional use of pre-defined values for States and Countries. Otherwise, users write in their own values.
- Multimedia content allowed! Users can upload and display photos, sound files, and video clips and other documents in ads and their multimedia galleries.
- Multiple File format uploads (wav, media, gif, exe, xls, doc, etc...).
- Multiple photos/images to appear per ad, users can upload unlimited number of images to their photo gallery and assign upto 10 photos to their ad.
- Thumbnail photos will be automatically resized if their full size if too big to fit in summary format.
- Optionally display the posted date on ad pages.
- Optionally display of expiration date on ad pages.
- Ability for administrator to set the maximum number of words that may be contained in certain fields (such as the "text" field that contains the body of the ad).
- Size of included text in ads can be controlled by the administrator.
- Preview feature that allows users to preview their ad before it is posted.
- Our HOTLIST feature allows users to save certain ads for later viewing. When they come back in the future and click on "My Hotlist" in their control panel, the program will display all of their saved ads. We call this "the digital equivalent of circling ads in the newspaper."
- "Send this ad to friends" facility, linked from ad preview and full ad page ad, helps promoting your service and spreading the word.
- "Report this ad" facility, users can report ads that violate terms etc., helps keeping clean content throughout your classifieds service.
- Counters in the control panel along with the ads telling how many times the ad has been viewed, how many times the ad has been replied to, and how many times saved to hotlists.
- Links within each ad for modifying or deleting the ad.
- Ability to scale thumbnails to maintain proportions of original graphic, and the option of having the program autoscale the thumbnails to a given width and height.
- Automatically send email notificiation to ad poster if their ad has been replied to.
- Users can see whether ad author is currently online or offline while browsing categories.
- Users can rank ads anywhere in categories and in search results according to posted date, most replied, most saved or most viewed.
- Users can sort any field in category browsing results in ascending and descending order.
Expiration of Ads
- Ads are set to expire after a certain amount of time as defined by admin.
- Optional automatically send notification by e-mail to users whose ads are about to expire.
- Admin can choose whether to keep expired ads in database or delete them from database.

Just a quick comment, as we only seem to write when we have a problem. Setting up the new (upgrade) version and I wanted to congratulate you on the available options and functionality. They are so flexible we can adjust as we grow, and the new cron job options take a big load off our maintenance. The new features allow me to alter many issues I was seeking. I was going to eventually design my own, but you certainly saved me the trouble.
While I do have a bit of template work ahead of me, this is also streamlined, Thanks.
