Upgrade from 1.XX to 2.0

Upgrade from 1.XX to 2.0 is a little complex due to the many changes that we have implemented. Not only the database formats are different, but the way the program works is also different. You can consider this is a totally new script, written more than 50% from scratch...

Even though we have test the upgrade.cgi fully, but there is no guarantee that it will work right on your server, and we will not be responsible if you lose data.

To upgrade the script

  1. Make a backup copy of the .htaccess file
  2. Upload the script into your server into a new location
  3. Run install.cgi
  4. Run upgrade.cgi
  5. Upgrade.cgi will ask for your old program locations. It will them make a transition from old databases to new databases at the new locations.
  6. If your server timed out before the conversion complete, the .htaccess file may have been overwrite. You need to upload the old .htaccess file so that your user can have access. If this is the case, you need to do that from the shell, but we do not have a shell script compatible yet, so please ask us.
  7. If your server did not time out, then the conversion is completed. At this time, you can test login. If everything works as expected, you can tell your users of the new locations.
  8. Rememeber, the user URL is http://www.your-domain.com/cgi-bin/mojoProtector/mojoProtector.cgi where http://www.your-domain.com/cgi-bin/mojoProtector/ is the actual URL to the script location.
